Margaret Mary Alacoque

I no longer have visions. Or at least I think so, because like breakdowns, those anomalous moments can only be defined as such in retrospect. but the thought that the angels on blake’s shoulder, or the theatre of voices behind dante’s eyes might be reduced in this solid age to flashpoints on a brain-scan is enough to drive me back to poetry. and for that, I’m thankful.
