I grew up with the most intense sunsets because the sky around me was industrialised, shaped by broad chimneys and early-evening flares, by the byproducts of products. Now when the sky glows across the spectrum from salmon-pink to salmon-red I know it’s because the winds have carried the hazy remnants of destruction from the west.
